The animation starts off by showing a series of 3D [[animations]] to catch the viewers' attention, but not long after that, a zombie pops up in the animation and shrieks.

The flash animation comprises three segments: a blue ''[[wikipedia:Utah teapot|Utah teapot]]'' bouncing up and down, a ball bouncing down stairs, and a 3D face model rotating until facing the viewer. The first two segments replay before transitioning to the next, but during the third replay, a screamer suddenly appears before the end of the animation. The final screen wishes viewers a safe Halloween. Despite containing a screamer, the flash was rated suitable for all ages, possibly as a ploy to lure specific users. The creator and the current whereabouts of the flash remain unknown after it was deleted from the site.

The gameplay is to guide a dot through the maze surrounded by thin walls and to reach its end. The player advanced to the next level after reaching and clicking that "G O A L" button. Once before the player reaches the end of Level 2, a black-and-white portrait of a baby wearing a sheep costume doing the [[Harlequin Fetus|harlequin fetus]] pose (taken from [[Wikipedia:Deathrealm|Deathrealm]]'s magazine cover) appears in a solid red background, accompanied by a loud edited roar, which is later used in [[Zoeken]].

In 2005, there was an unofficial English version of ''Steady Hand'' titled ''Tiny Dot Maze''. This version featured minor changes, such as a different menu screen and the "Game Over" message being replaced with "DAMN!". The game's website claimed to reward anyone who completed the supposed "Level 10" with $100, however, upon reaching the end, the player was instead greeted with the [[Hai2u]] image accompanied by a puking sound. The gameplay is to guide a dot through the maze surrounded by thin walls and to reach its end. The player advanced to the next level after reaching and clicking that "G O A L" button. Once before the player reaches the end of Level 2, a black-and-white portrait of a baby wearing a sheep costume doing the [[Harlequin Fetus|harlequin fetus]] pose (taken from [[Wikipedia:Deathrealm|Deathrealm]]'s magazine cover) appears in a solid red background, accompanied by a loud edited roar, which is later used in [[Zoeken]].

In 2005, there was an unofficial English version of ''Steady Hand'' titled ''Tiny Dot Maze''. This version featured minor changes, such as a different menu screen and the "Game Over" message being replaced with "DAMN!". The game's website claimed to reward anyone who completed the supposed "Level 10" with $100, however, upon reaching the end, the player was instead greeted with the [[Hai2u]] image accompanied by a puking sound. Unlike the original, where the screamer appeared just before the end, this version displays the image after the player dies. ==Background==
The early 2000s was a significant time for the internet. With an increased number of users and websites coming into the scene, so too did the horror scene. Websites such as "[[Scary For Kids]]" and other related media started to pop up and create whole communities of fans within the horror genre. However, while scary images and urban legends became the standard for them, the idea of a video or animation whose sole purpose is to scare unsuspected viewers as they were lulled into a state of serenity had not been done yet.

Enter Kikia, a flash animation that did exactly what was previously stated. Though, it started small as it first appeared on Kimo, a blogging service in Taiwan. Aside from Kimo, it also began as a prank sent through chain mail similar to how [[The Maze]] did it. Over the next few weeks after its official posting, it garnered much attention from both Taiwanese and even Chinese denizens of the web. By 2004, Kikia would eventually be shown to the western world where it also gained popularity.

While the reactions towards Kikia were mixed, its novelty was praised. Noticeably, westerners reported that they were more scared of it because it is in a language that they can not even read, to begin with. Yet, others ended up being more confused than scared especially when they were wondering what was the purpose of it. Either way, Kikia still managed to remain popular on the internet due to it being the first of many [[screamer]]s to come.

== Overview==
The animation begins with a still of a crudely drawn boy sitting on a patch of grass looking at the sky. Two lines of Chinese text appear letter by letter that read, "''是否已經很久..... 沒仔細看看天空.....''", translating to "''How long haven't you..... Take a closer look at the sky .....''" The view then changes and shows the boy walking down what appears to be a city street lined with simple buildings with two more lines of text displayed saying "''走在街上.......... 你看到.......''", translating to "''Walking down the street.......... You see.......''" Then, a flashing picture of a ghastly being with white eyes and an open mouth pops up accompanied by a loud scream (see Trivia in the first section). After the screamer, the yellow text "'''Kikia'''" appears, thus ending the flash animation.

==Variations==
''Kikia'' has also been parodied by many internet users, mainly from Newgrounds to Scratch.

In 2002, [[Newgrounds]] user BurritoClock uploaded the first and earliest parody of ''Kikia'' titled "[[Clockkia]]" showcasing a Radish Clock seated on a plain hill. The [[[animation]] then presents RaspberryClock strolling down the street with his companion, Burrito Clock. In the following scene, a close-up of Strawberry Clock appears, with the same scream as in the original ''Kikia''. After that, the animation displays the word "ClockKia" in yellow text.<ref>youtube.com/watch?v=kUu-L6maHDo</ref> The animation is based on Clock Crew, an internet community that had been recognized in the early days of Newgrounds.

On November 24, 2007, user SarahhhhSANTI uploaded the first [[YouTube]] parody of ''Kikia'' to the platform, titled "Caroline Kikia." It features two crudely drawn pictures of a stick figure going on a picnic with a girl singing in the background. ''Kikia'' parodies would found their way to another platform, [[Scratch]]. One instance is Jigglykia, a Scratch animation that starts off by portraying the Pokémon character [[wikipedia:JigglyPuff|''JigglyPuff'']], seated on a lawn and looking at the sky, accompanied by the text "take a lay down, and forget your worries." It then shifts to a frame of Jigglypuff strolling down the street, followed by an image of a poorly drawn monster with a wide-open mouth, accompanied by a loud echoing scream. Another Scratch animation employing the sample of ''Kikia,'' titled "Blue's Clues: If you are mad," transitions to Blue from the 1996 Nick Jr. show [[wikipedia:Blue's Clues|''Blue's Clues'']] on a gray rock with the text saying, "Take a lay down and forget your worries." Subsequently, it shifts to Blue on a street with the text saying, "Or take a stroll down the street." As the title suggests, the player's goal is to locate the hidden dot in all four pictures; once the player finds it, the level is completed and the player gets taken to the next picture, which is more difficult than the previous one. The difficulty increases as the dot gets smaller and positioned in locations that match its color.

The fourth level depicts a picture of Nemo from the 2003 Pixar film ''[[wikipedia:Finding Nemo|Finding Nemo]]'' and the dot becomes difficult to find. The dot is next to Nemo's mouth, and when the player clicks it, a picture of [[Regan MacNeil]] pops up with the same scream from [[The Maze]].
