'''Where's Waldo?''' is an old [[screamer]] animation based on the British book series ''[[wikipedia:Where's_Wally?|Where's Waldo]]'', and has similarities to [[What's Wrong?]]. The animation was originally uploaded to [[Newgrounds]] by the user PimpMasterKDOG (or called by his short pseudonym, KDOG) on Dec 16th, 2001.

The original begins with the main menu and a start button. The gameplay involves finding Waldo in a crowd of people, as seen in the PC game ''[[wikipedia:Where's Waldo at the Circus|Where's Waldo at the Circus]]''. Once the player finds it (Waldo is behind the grandma's shoulder), the text "Congratulations!" appears before being replaced by "You Found Waldo"; this version does not have a [[screamer]]. Another [[screamer]] was shortly made after, uploaded to [[Newgrounds]] at 10:32 PM, which doesn't contain a [[screamer]], likewise to the previous.

[[Jeremy Winterrowd]] commented that this was the first screamer he had seen, which inspired him to make [[The Maze]] game.

== Versions ==
The original [[screamer]] version was published on July 17th, 2002, by TheGuyYouAllHate, with Waldo removed from a large crowd of people, and inviting the player to find him while [https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/57335 circus music] plays. After about 30 seconds, an image of [[Pazuzu]] from the 1973 supernatural horror film ''[[wikipedia:The Exorcist (film)|The Exorcist]]'' appears, accompanied by a scream from the video game ''[[wikipedia:Mortal Kombat 2|Mortal Kombat 2]]'' before cutting back to the image, now with the music muted. In the description, it states that it was made a few weeks ago. The screamer version was not created by TheGuyYouAllHate, but a friend of his who sent him "this flash and few weeks ago and i thought it should be on ng." The person behind the screamer version remains unknown.

There's an alternate version of this with a flashing image of the [[What's Wrong?|What's Wrong]] face with yellow lights in its eye sockets, accompanied by a [https://soundideas.sourceaudio.com/track/7626051 different scream], followed by [[wikipedia:Scooby-Doo_(character)|Scooby-Doo]]'s laugh. Another, even shorter version exists, which includes [[Regan MacNeil]] from the same movie at the end, accompanied by a repeating sound of Bart and Lisa Simpson from ''[[wikipedia:The Simpsons|The Simpsons]]'' screaming in fear. This version was uploaded to YouTube by DjManny123 on June 19, 2007.

In early 2007, Jackspicer14 created a [[Flash]] [[animation]] titled "[[The Simpsons: Find Maggie]]" which is submitted on the [[hosts|site]] [[Winterrowd.com]]. It follows the concept of ''Where's Waldo?'' The animation presents a crowd of [[wikipedia:The Simpsons|''The Simpsons'']] characters, challenging viewers to locate Maggie within the crowd. After 30 seconds, the animation shifts to a picture of Brandon from the 2006 horror film ''The Slaughter'', accompanied by the same scream used in [[The Ultimate Maze]]. In the Winterrowd version, the animation ends with a link redirecting to the official Winterrowd site.

==YouTube variations==
On May 27th, 2007, Bristowman created a [[YouTube]] [[video]] based on both "follow-the-dot" and the Flash, titled "Eye Testing Ben." This video takes the form of a minigame collection, inspired by the channel owner's first name, Ben. The video begins on a white screen bearing the message "Eye Testing Ben (You don't need to take glasses off)." It quickly demonstrates the first level, where players must follow a black dot. Subsequently, a message instructs players to increase the volume as the second game is introduced, challenging them to find ''Waldo'' in a picture. A cropped screenshot from a ''Where's Waldo'' book appears, depicting a beach scene with a man spilling ice cream on a sunbathing woman's back. After several seconds, an image of The Gentlemen from the [[wikipedia:Buffy the Vampire Slayer|''Buffy the Vampire Slayer'']] episode "Hush" appears, accompanied by a loud female scream. On October 11, 2012, StefanD99 uploaded his version titled "Hilarious hidden message in Where's Waldo" on [[YouTube]]. It features a low-quality screenshot of "The Goggling Gluttons" page from the ''Where's Waldo?'' book series. The screenshot slowly zooms in to the center while the song "[[wikipedia:Don't Worry Be Happy|''Don't Worry Be Happy'']]" by [[wikipedia:Bobby McFerrin|Bobby McFerrin]] plays. On October 17, 2010, PrepareForAScare shared a "scary-pop-up"-based video titled "FIND WALDO (scary pop-up)" on YouTube. The video begins with a screenshot from the Waldo book series, challenging viewers to locate Waldo among numerous other characters. However, Waldo is edited ''out'' in the image. As the video advances, seemingly reaching its end, an image of a vampire suddenly appears on the screen, accompanied by a chilling scream resembling that of a young girl. In 2012, SuperLaugh, the creator of the [[What's Wrong?]] version of Where's Waldo? animation, uploaded a screamer video titled "The Hardest Where's Waldo Ever" on YouTube. The video opens with an image of a crowded beach, featuring the same circus music used in Where's Waldo? playing in the background. Viewers are instructed to find "Waldo" in the image. In 2018, a [[YouTube]] user [[User:Mega Osodashi|''Mega Osodashi'']] published a lost screamer video (under the name "Crystal the Tanuccoon") on YouTube titled "[[The Simpsons Comic: Find Ned Flanders In This Panel!]]" The video was deleted along with her video [[Baikinman's Heartbeat]] shortly in November. The video showcases a panel from The Simpsons comic book called "The Yes-Man Who Would Be King" and bears resemblance to the Where's Waldo? screamer. Users are compelled to find Ned Flanders in the comic's panel while a sped-up version of "Watch Out" by Bambee plays quietly in the background. At the 0:25 mark, a white girl with large eyes, large pupils, and a bloody mouth (from Planet Dolan's "15 Creepiest Things A Child Has Ever Said") suddenly appears, accompanied by an extremely loud scream. Following the screamer, a scene from the 1974 Perman episode plays, revealing a pink text that reads "Fooled!" and then shifts to "Look for more videos on my Generation Star YouTube channel!" Both moments are accompanied by a sped-up chorus of "Call Me" by Babe.
