'''Akai Heya Complete Version''' (Japanese: 赤い部屋完全版, ''Akai Heya Kanzen Ban'') is a [[screamer]] [[Flash]] [[animation]] created by Gato☆Mi. The game is based on the famous Japanese urban legend [[wikipedia:Red_Room_Curse|Akai Heya]].

The urban legend was so famous that it was even the reason why people in Japan became paranoid about surfing the internet at a time when the Akai Heya rumor became famous, since there was no pop-up block system at that time, which means it would lead to the Akai Heya pop-up anytime.
==Background==
===Animation===
[[File:Red Room text.png|thumb|left|180px|The pop-up displaying the <nowiki>"あなたは | 好きですか?"</nowiki> text in a red background appears even after closing it.]]
The legend of the "Red Room" (in the animated version) starts with two friends discussing a rumor about an Internet pop-up ad that appears to ask, "Do you like —?" (あなたは—好きですか？,Anata wa—suki desu ka?) and is believed to cause death upon closure. While one friend is skeptical, the other investigates the matter and finds no information online. However, as he browses his usual websites, the pop-up appears, and a childlike voice repeatedly asks "Do you like —?". Despite his attempts to close it, the pop-up keeps reappearing, and the voice becomes distorted until the question changes to "Do you like red?". As the boy continues to close the pop-up, the voice eventually asks the completed question in a normal child's voice: "Do you like the red room?" (あなたは赤い部屋が好きですか？,Anata wa akai heya ga suki desu ka?). Following this, a website with a list of names appears, and the protagonist becomes aware of something behind him. The next day, there is school gossip about two students who committed suicide by painting their rooms red with their own blood. The protagonist's computer screen is then displayed with their name at the bottom of the list, before shutting off with an eerie sound. If the user's browser has not disabled pop-ups, a pop-up resembling the ad from the story will appear after the video ends.
===Content===
The complete version of Akai Heya by Gato☆M resembles the scene where the pop-up appears. Upon accessing the [[website]], viewers are met with a warning advising that the content is not recommended for those with heart problems or who are easily frightened. Two options are presented: "View" (みる, miru) and "Stop" (やめる, yameru). Selecting "Stop" leads the viewer directly to the main site, while choosing "View" redirects them to a black page that, after a few seconds, presents a pop-up displaying a red image and the question "Do you like it?" (あなたは | 好きですか?, Anata wa -- suki desu ka?). As the viewer attempts to close the pop-up, it reopens, repeating the same question in a distorted female voice. The more the viewer tries to close the pop-up, the more it appears that a sentence is being formed.

Eventually, on the final pop-up, the sentence is completed: "Do you like the red room?" (あなたは赤い部屋が好きですか？ Anata wa akai heya ga suki desu ka?). The female voice repeats the sentence without distortion before the pop-up finally closes. The viewer is then directed to a red page displaying a list of names of those who, according to the urban legend, were victims of the pop-up and died shortly after viewing the list. After a few minutes, the viewer is redirected to a page featuring an image of [[Regan MacNeil]] from [[wikipedia:The Exorcist|''The Exorcist'']], accompanied by a loud scream. Some versions of the website may instead link to the [[wikipedia:What's Wrong|What's Wrong?]] screamer, which includes 30 seconds of blank room before the scream.
Sunflower dance (Japanese: ひまわりのダンス, ''Himawari no dansu'') is a flash screamer animation made by the Japanese user Unmon.

The animation begins with a loading screen in front of a white background and black text saying, "Now loading". The animation shows a rooftop with air conditioners, fans and what appear to be shoes on the floor. It changes to an image of a building and an air conditioning system, until it cuts to white, then cuts back to the rooftop from earlier. A skinny looking creature appears, dances and disappears twice, then flashes red and white several times. Then the creature is gone, and static appears on the screen, until an image of a creature's face pops up along with a loud scream, before cutting to a white background and fading back to the rooftop. Then a black background text appears saying "end" on the bottom right, and the animation ends.
'''ロイツマ逆再生''' ('''Loituma Reverse playback''') was a [[screamer]] [[animation]] by an unknown maker on 2006. It has a similar concept to [[Jingle Bells Reversed]].

The animation starts with a gray background with a button saying "Start" in Russian. When the button gets clicked, Russian text saying: "This is how the original pollka song sounds" , and then Orihime from the Japanese anime/manga ''Bleach'' shows up, who is spinning a leek, along with the music [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yh9i0PAjck Ievan Polkka] by ''[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loituma Loituma]'' & Hatsune Miku playing in the backgroun, who even has become an internet meme. When the extract of the song ends, later than, the same extract is played again, but now it is reversed.

The girl on the animation is now with her hair covering her eyes, without spinning the leek. The "screen" is starting to become distorted and Orihime pops up with red eyes along with a low quality version of the scream from [[Steady Hand]]. When the screamer ends, she appears normal, and some text appears in a dialog box, saying that hopefully, she didn't scare you.

The urban legend was so famous that was even the reason why people in Japan became paranoid to surf the Internet in the time where the Akai Heya rumor became famous since there was no pop-up block system at that time, which means it will lead to the Akai Heya pop up anytime.
==Background==
===Animation===
===Content===

'''Anne.jpg''' was a [[screamer]] [[Website|webpage]]. The purpose of it was to mislead the user, disguising itself as a .jpg file. It was originally located on the website [[akk.li]] as a file directory, created by Xenox sometime between 2011-2012.

==History and content==
[[File:Malware1.png|thumb|320px|The text telling the viewer that the site does not contain malware.]]
[[File:Malware2.png|thumb|320px]]
The Akk.li website had Anne.jpg featured as a file directory in April 2012, which contained a flashing picture of [[Jeff the Killer]], accompanied by an incredibly loud scream (an extremely over-saturated soundclip of a little girl screaming over a puppy barking). Before the scream plays, the image quickly zooms in and flashed repeatedly from regular to negative colors. The original page also contained text stating "This site will not harm your computer and doesn't contains[sic] malware!", with a link to the creator's Facebook page. The screamer was first linked in December 2012, by ZONA DEL Terror. Above the link, the post states "''miren este vídeo horror fans esta increíble!!!''" (which roughly translates to "look at this video, horror fans - it's incredible!!!").

The site was visited 27.5 million times before closing. The website shortly turned into a redirect to [http://savetheinternet.info savetheinternet.info], but today, the link goes to random advertisements as the domain is currently held by cybersquatters.
==Anne.jpg mirrors==
{{MCategory|Anne.jpg}}
The website [[420yolo.com]] was first launched in March 2013, and it used the same screamer as Anne.jpg. It was posted on numerous [[Reddit|subreddits]], all of them being disguised.<ref>[https://www.reddit.com/domain/420yolo.com/ 420yolo] being posted in subreddits</ref> In May, the website [[Findminecraft.com]] was launched and received a lot of popularity in 2015, because a popular [[wikipedia:Minecraft|''Minecraft'']] [[YouTuber]] at the time, [[wikipedia:DanTDM|DanTDM]], was tricked into entering the website while it was active.<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcOFinI8GbA&t=14m DanTDM's video]</ref> Another mirror called [[Topkek.co]] existed for a while (possibly around 2014). This one did not have a [[malicious script]] like other known mirrors, but it did download malware on the computer. This version was spammed for a long time in [[wikipedia:/b/|/b/]] on [[4chan]], since "Topkek" is a 4chan meme<ref>[https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/topkek Topkek] Definition</ref> and its purpose is to lure people in, making them think the website is associated with Topkek in ''some'' way.

In late 2014, the domain [[Agor.io]] was registered. It was the most popular one due to the fact that many people were prone to misspelling the first "a" and replacing it with an "o" instead. The website also included a malicious script that prevented the user from closing the site by displaying the alert message: "U SCARED BRO LOL". The website significantly grew popular on Reddit.<ref>[https://www.reddit.com/domain/agor.io/ Agor.io] being posted on Reddit</ref> This post, in particular, was supposedly written by a parent whose child had an epileptic seizure trying to play Agar.io but misspelled it as Agor.io instead. The mother was attempting to file a lawsuit against the owner of the website, revealed to be Preston Kellenberger, living in [[wikipedia:Sardinia, Ohio|Sardinia, Ohio]].<ref>http://web.archive.org/web/20190821192018/https://screamer.fandom.com/wiki/Thread:6068</ref> The original site redirected to a German version of [https://savetheinternet.info/de/ savetheinternet.info] for some time. Similar to Akk.li, ''Agor.io'' now redirects to a 404 page.
'''ScaryMaze.io''' is an HTML5 game based on the infamous [[The Maze|Scary Maze Game]], developed by ''Terminarch Games'' on July 4th, 2018.

The gameplay itself is similar to the original Maze game by [[Jeremy Winterrowd]]. There is also a webcam feature that can be enabled upon loading the game, or disabled if not desired. The game first asks the player to beat its five levels, but like ''The Maze'', there are only three levels.

When the player clicks start, creepy violin sounds play in the background as well as footsteps when the mouse is moved. The first two levels are identical to the original game, but the coloring is pink and there is fog in the background. Holding down the mouse to skip levels does not work in this [[screamer]], and if the player touches the walls too many times, the same screamer will also be triggered.

At level 3, the player must first maneuver in a square pattern. Afterward, the path then gets narrow and bendy. Then, near the second curve of the narrow part, a skull pops up with a loud roar and then makes an evil laugh. Finally, the game goes to a screen showing the reaction picture taken by the webcam to be saved; if the webcam was disabled, the game instead shows a stock photo icon and an option to enable the webcam.
'''Tic-Tac-Toe''', also known as '''Scary Tic-Tac-Toe''', was a [[Flash]] [[screamer]] game made by pyzam. The game disguises itself as a simple Tic-Tac-Toe game.

The player has to choose between X and O roles, and the objective is to compete against the computer. The player who succeeds in placing three of their marks in a diagonal, horizontal, or vertical row is the winner. Upon starting the game, the one who chose X must go first before the O's. However, after the computer blocks the player's way for the 2nd time, a shaking close-up picture of a replica zombie mask from [[wikipedia:The_Evil_Dead|''The Evil Dead'']] pops up accompanied by a loud female scream (originally Miss Havisham (portrayed by the late [[wikipedia:Martita Hunt|Martita Hunt]]) from the 1946 British drama film ''[[wikipedia:Great Expectations (1946 film)|Great Expectations]]''). As of 2018, the original screamer has been deleted.

There is an alternative version of this game, also made by pyzam, where the picture was replaced with the zombie with a green clown mask with pointy ears, yellow eyes, and its tongue sticking out. Both of these sites are closed.
'''Gamemun''' was a [[screamer]] [[Adobe Flash Player|Flash]] game created by Nickket in 2006.

The screamer attempts to fool people into thinking they are going to play an actual game. A loading screen is shown, followed by a screen with options to choose "1 Player" or "2 Players". After either one is chosen, [[Crazy Ghost]] appears and zooms in, along with a stretched crying sound effect. The sound will continue to play continuously until the player closes the game.

The video starts off with Hattoushin Mona, a [[wikipedia:2channel|2channel]] character, saying はあ・・・>>1さん・・・ ("*pant*... >>1-san..."). Then, >>1-san, another 2channel character, appears and Hattoushin says 八ア八ア ("*pant pant*"). When it zooms in and Hattoushin says 八ア八ア・・・、今日こそは・・・! ! (*pant pant* ... Today is the day...!!"), the sentence is interrupted by a zombie face with large eyes and crooked teeth accompanied by a high-pitched scream.
'''Johnny Quasar''' is a 11-second [[screamer]] video uploaded to [[YouTube]] on June 20, 2016 made by Udge.

The video starts with the 1995 demo ''The Adventures of Johnny Quasar'', a found prototype ''[[wikipedia:Jimmy Neutron (franchise)|Jimmy Neutron]]'' animated shorts between 1995-1997. However, as soon as Goddard barks, the screen abruptly zooms in and glitches into a skeleton goat with glowing eyes and a fiery background accompanied by a loud scream. The video is currently age-restricted.
