'''A Dark Place''' is a meta-[[Screamer#In video games|horror game]] developed by XerStudios and published in 2018. Although the game itself is not [[malicious scripts|harmful]] to the host computer, it frequently disrupts the computer's normal operation to scare the player. The game utilizes several joke [[programs]] that are packaged with the main executable and are automatically launched at certain points in the game. As a result, the game is often detected and blocked by antivirus programs, and the developer recommends disabling such programs before playing.

The gameplay involves navigating through various rooms, solving puzzles, and unlocking doors to find four music boxes and complete the game. Throughout the game's four chapters, the player is pursued by a mysterious corruption (initially appearing as a white pixelated face before evolving into a photorealistic skull) that has control over both the game and the player's computer.
