Curieusement, le vrai nom de Jeff's dans cette histoire est Jeffery C. Hodek, et pas "Jeffrey Woods." 	Pendant la forte montée en popularité des creepypastas, de multiples screamers incorporent l'image de Jeff the Killer pour apeurer les spectateurs. Suivant ce post, d'autres utilisateurs de 4chan ont commencé à modifier l'image et à publier leurs versions modifiées en réponse à l'image originale, l'un d'entre eux postant une version moins modifiée avec le sous-titre "Maintenant, tu l'es.". Il affirme que l'image était déjà modifiée lorsqu'il l'a trouvée, et qu'il l'a juste un peu modifiée et postée sur pya.cc, ce qui veut dire qu'il a créé White powder (2) (JTK 1), mais pas l'image la précédant. Omega Volt a donc pris son image modifiée et l'a transformée en Jeff the Killer tel qu'on le connaît aujourd'hui (JTK 2). Pour l'instant, les origines de Jeff the Killer restent inconnues, la vidéo supposée est perdue, et les recherches se poursuivent.
