In the video, a dancing rat is shown taunting a rat trap while music plays in the background. However, after about 4 seconds, the video will suddenly change to a high-contrast bloodied face, accompanied by a painfully loud screech. The rest of the video is the screamer.

Rata Bailando (English for "Dancing Rat") is a 12-second screamer video first uploaded by Ramon Fontana on YouTube on June 30th, 2020.

The first three seconds of the video contain a sped-up clip from a 2001 CGI animated video made by Michael Loeck of an anthropomorphic mouse wearing a red shirt, alongside a pair of white gloves and shoes, named Raymond, dancing to You Sexy Thing by Hot Chocolate, with the sound noticeably quiet. As soon as Raymond turns around, a picture of a high-contrast bloody face appears along with an extremely loud noise, which continues for several seconds before the video ends. This video has several mirrors and reuploads of it on YouTube, including censored versions.

The face used in the screamer comes from a "Void" Internet meme made by TimTam60[1], and the screamer's audio is an extremely distorted edit of the song Philosophy by Whitehouse sped up.

Discord

The Discord version of the screamer is so loud that it's able to bypass the volume slider. Some viewers on YouTube claimed that this caused their operating systems to crash[2]. However, YouTube has a volume limit on each of the videos, detecting those containing absurdly loud audio and automatically lowering their volumes.

In the comments section of the YouTube video, Ramon claimed his friend shared the video with him on Discord, and that he did not make the screamer. This implies the video spread on Discord and existed before Ramon's upload on June 30, 2020.

Trivia

  • YouTuber football athlete, hip-hop musician, occasional vlogger, and variety live-streamer Darren Watkins Jr., also known as IShowSpeed reacted to this video on a live stream twice.[3][4]
  • The rat clip is featured in a video with a Spanish song.
  • The rat clip is sped up by 1.5× speed, and the song used for the screamer is sped up by 4×.
  • The creator of the original rat clip worked on multiple movies[5].
