Friday Night Funkin': Winter Horrorland

Winter Horrorland is the final song for week 5 and the 16th track of overall from Friday Night Funkin'. The transition to the third song contains a screamer.

Week 5 starts out with the player having to play against Daddy Dearest and Mommy Mearest in a crowded mall: The antagonists hold Santa at gunpoint. During the first two songs, the week does not have any scary elements and the songs are Christmas sounding.

After the end of the second song, the screen goes black for a few seconds, until a corpse suddenly pops up, located on top of the Christmas tree (where the star used to be), with a scream. The scenery also takes a dramatic turn, with the mall now being abandoned and Monster now taking over for Daddy Dearest and Mommy Mearest. This marks the start of the third song, Winter Horrorland.

Winter Horrorland has a unique transition. Once the level is loaded, a loud noise is played while the camera remains focused on a severed head that looks similar to Girlfriend's on top of the now-gory Christmas tree for a few seconds before panning back down to Boyfriend.

Trivia

• The screamer only shows up in story mode, not free play. There is also no screamer for when Monster interrupts the end of week 2.
• Winter Horrorland shares the several similarities with the Week 2 track Monster. These includes:
  • Being part of weeks related to holidays like Christmas (Week 5) and Halloween (Week 2), respectively.
  • Monster replaces the primary opponents (which are the both duos) of their respective weeks for the final song.
• Winter Horrorland is one of the few tracks in Friday Night Funkin' that includes English lyrics, the others being Tutorial, Fresh, Spookeez, Monster, Ugh, Stress, and SPAGHETTI.
• Between the 0:30 and 0:32 timestamps in the song, a low noises can be heard that comes from the track's left audio channel. Pitching this segment up and isolating the vocals revealing this to be an audio clip of someone saying "Ho ho ho! Merry Christm-" before it being cut off.
• As shown in a Tweet by Bassetfilms, the song's composer and singer, Winter Horrorland containing musical references from various Holiday songs:
  • The melody of the beginning of the song aswell as the first lyrics "Your skin is freezing, here let me help you take it off." is referenced from "Santa Dog '88" by The Residents.
  • The melody used in the lyrics "Snowman smiling with your teeth, fallen angels created with your meat." references the song "It's Gonna Snow Right Here in Dixie" from the 1970s stop-motion animated Christmas television special The Year Without a Santa Claus
  • The melody is used with the lyrics "Cut, in a thousand slices. Bake you 'til, golden brown," "Stuff you with spices," "Serve to friends around." is referenced from the song "Let There Be Snow" from the 1990s animated Christmas television special Frosty Returns.
    • There is an part where Monster sings "Serve to friends around." also sounds similar to the McDonald's jingle. This was unintentional, according to Bassetfilms, though it makes thematic sense.
• Originally, when the Monster says "Turn the heat on high, we'll reduce your blood," Monster's voice could be heard singing, but there was nothing note for when he said "blood." This error was fixed in the Week 7 update, giving Monster an up hold note.
