Cheryl Williams is a character from the 1981 horror movie The Evil Dead. She is the younger sister of Ash Williams and is one of the five people who travel to an isolated cabin in the woods. Cheryl is portrayed by Ellen Sandweiss.
Appearance
Before her possession, Cheryl has long reddish-brown hair and normally wears casual clothing. She is frequently seen carrying a sketchbook and pencil, reflecting her interest in drawing.
After becoming possessed, Cheryl's appearance changes dramatically. Her face becomes distorted and monstrous, and she takes on the appearance of a Deadite. Her possessed appearance is the version most commonly used in screamers.
History
Cheryl travels to the cabin with Ash, Linda, Scotty and Shelly. Shortly after arriving, she begins to notice strange occurrences. While sitting in the living room, she draws a picture of a strange creature and becomes increasingly frightened by what is happening around her.
After the group plays a recording made by Professor Raymond Knowby, the Kandarian Demon is released. Cheryl later goes outside and is attacked by the possessed trees in the surrounding woods.
She eventually returns to the cabin badly injured and frightened. Cheryl tells the others that the trees attacked her, but the group initially believes that she was attacked by an animal.
As the supernatural events continue, Cheryl becomes possessed by the Kandarian Demon and transforms into a Deadite.
As a Deadite
After her possession, Cheryl becomes hostile and attacks the other people in the cabin. She attacks Linda with a pencil and displays the unnatural strength and behavior associated with the Deadites.
Scott eventually manages to overpower Cheryl and locks her inside the cellar.
Cheryl later escapes from the cellar and attacks Ash. During the confrontation, she uses objects from the cabin as weapons and continues to behave violently toward her brother.
Her Deadite form is eventually destroyed after Ash destroys the Necronomicon and the evil possessing the Deadites is defeated.

Her return was notable because Cheryl had apparently died during the events of the original film.
Evil Dead: The Game
Cheryl Williams also appears as a playable character in Evil Dead: The Game, released in 2022. Ellen Sandweiss provides the character's voice, including the Deadite version of Cheryl.
