2016 is a screamer video uploaded to YouTube by user "PawPatrol&Jack'sBigMusicShowFanatic 2004" - an impersonation of another user, now known as "AndrewTheNicktoons HubFan2004". It is unknown exactly when the video was uploaded, but it is currently known to be sometime by around January 2017. The creator who made the video was terminated by around February 28th, 2018, due to the account receiving multiple claims of copyright infringement regarding its content. The screamer was eventually found with the use of reverse engineering by Discord users.

Content

The video is currently known to contain at least ten screamer videos created in 2016 running simultaneously as semi-transparent layers, while there could have been more in there based on observations. They are, from back to front:

• Coffee Break - Mother 3 by SiIvaGunner.
• Puzzle Room - Kirby: Planet Robobot by Le Ruse Bird.
• FOLLOW THE RED DOT ! SCARY HYPNOSIS GAME ! by CrazyMarc666.
• Scary pop up that will make you jump and cry. World BEST SCREAMER !, also by CrazyMarc666.
• Scary VeggieTales Theme Song Reversed by MST3KFTW ButtUglyMartiansFTL.
• A gameplay of Scariest Maze Game, a screamer game from 2009 by Joshua Mustill, that was recorded in 2016, titled follow the blue dot - especial edition by miguel chamorro leon.
• Sleeping Puppy by TheEmeraldMan382
• News Reporter's Shocking Death on Live Television by Sump, uploaded to his channel CemeterialCentral.

All of the screamers are synchronized to go off at the same time at around the 45-second mark into the video, with the shorter ones delayed to properly align with the longer ones later in the video. SpongeBob assaults your mind with "subliminal messages" was also used, but it is unknown where its layer is in the video. Count The Snow Bunnies also seems to be used, and presumably, Omsj may have been used because its scream can be heard in the video.

Background

After the user who uploaded the screamer was terminated in 2018, the origin of this video remained unknown to most people. Most people are familiar with it as it was used in videos called Up To Fasters. An example includes a video titled up to faster 110parison, also created and posted onto YouTube by said user, and was showcased on the top left corner.

One day in July of 2020, YouTuber "Give Me 5K Subs / NET1973" (now known as DiscoverGuy1999) found some of the video's statistics, including its title (2016), length (1:09), and link ID (WAW6cE7DJ78) on a YouTube video titled Random Maze #7 by Pipsqueak8205. (uploaded on May 29th, 2017; 0:01-0:25). Following this, a "hunt" to find the video had begun. Users could not find any known existing archives of the video online, but many of them have requested a reupload, notably to another user, [SM] Software Maker, who used the video as a component of some of their uploaded videos.

At the start of September of the same year, DiscoverGuy1999 uploaded a video similar to the original with the same title, though it included different videos mixed in. An updated version with more videos was released on October 18th, 2020 (titled Some Early "2016" Thing), which adds more screamers. Another updated version was made by the same creator in March of 2021 with even more videos, but DiscoverGuy1999 has never uploaded it.

Apart from a video uploaded by DiscoverGuy1999 on March 28th, 2021 stating that the video is possible to be found on the Wayback Machine, though it was yet to be found, Discover had not made many videos regarding the "hunt" to find the video at the time. However, there were variations made by a few people, eventually seen by DiscoverGuy1999 during his channel's Classical Revolution that started on January 12th, 2023.

More people joined the hunt in 2023 as DiscoverGuy1999 promised YouTube user MyDayAston The YouTubePower Guy 2009 POE (one of the members of a group of users that Discover leads titled the YouTubePower) that he thought he would be able to reupload it using a software titled AceThinker Video Keeper; the site was a scam. About a week later, MyDayAston created a playlist titled 2016 remake, which he soon let Discover collaborate on. On February 25th, Discover created an unofficial remake using Kapwing, containing the five videos that were seen in the playlist at the time. At the time, there were two non-screamer videos in the playlist likely added in by accident. The two videos were later removed, and "actual" screamer videos started to be added. If one of the screamers had not been found yet, a similar video was used in the playlist.

On March 2nd, MyDayAston uploaded a "reuploadish" (similar to a reupload, but was cropped from another video with matching audio). The first seventeen seconds were not included in his video due to no found footage of the first seventeen seconds of the video alone with nothing else layered over it. MyDayAston and DiscoverGuy1999 then continued to find all the known components from the video and Discover soon found Puzzle Room - Kirby: Planet Robobot.

A few days later, Discover started creating a recreation of the screamer using KineMaster 5. He told MyDayAston that he had the near-identical Scariest Maze Game gameplay used in Some Early "2016" Thing. The gameplay was slightly longer, the outline was thicker, and the actual gameplay was found later. Discover told MyDayAston that he also found Coffee Break - Mother 3. He was also told that the screamer video with the Loud Nigra sound effect was News Reporter's Shocking Death on Live Television, a lost screamer.

Discover created and uploaded his first official remake of the video on March 14th. To fix a few notable inaccuracies, the remake was modified on April 9th after DiscoverGuy1999 heard of Sleeping Puppy. A third remake was made on May 13th, after the video at the beginning of News Reporter's Shocking Death on Live Television was found the prior day. DiscoverGuy1999 also showed his remakes of Sleeping Puppy and News Reporter's Shocking Death on Live Television to other users. The number of recreations and variations created and uploaded had increased after Discover's third remake.

On January 14th, 2024, DiscoverGuy1999 recreated the video for the fourth time of the video using Kapwing, which was intended to be the most accurate one possible. The remake was uploaded the following day, but fixed a minor error and uploaded it as "remake V4.5" on January 21st. On June 23rd, 2024, MyDayAston found the original video's thumbnail - a frame from the video's 40-second mark - by viewing the thumbnail for a YouTube Multiplier mashup titled 2016 2parison PawPatrol&Jack'sBigMusicShowFanatic 2004.

On November 25th, 2024, a user named The Volkswagen Zone claimed that they found the original video. However, when the video was analyzed, it was confirmed to be a recreation made by YouTube user AnnarchyTV. Discover recreated the video once again a few weeks later.

On November 7th, 2025, the video was finally found after over seven years when users on Discord used reverse engineering to find the video, and was later uploaded to YouTube by a user named E_Vids.
