Don't Find Waldo (ウォーリーを探さないで 画面クリックでスタート BGMが流れます)
- Main Article: Where's Waldo?
Upon opening the link, the site displays Where's Waldo? in a solid yellow background next to advertisements for 65ex.com (65 Exchange), an adult video and editing service among several suspicious external links.
A small text beneath the screamer reads: "Don't Look for Wally Mirror → Click here" (「ウォーリーを探さないで」ミラー→こちら). This "click here" link lures viewers to the index.html section, which prompts: "Don't look for Wally; BGM will play, so please turn on the sound and enjoy♪" (ウォーリーを探さないで BGMが流れるので音を出してお楽しみください♪).
While the message above could be taken as a direct warning, turn up their speakers and listen to the background music, the source code actually contains no audio file. This absence implies the "BGM" either never existed, resulting in a silent page, or relied on plugins supported only by legacy browsers like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.
The website’s history shows there is little to no change. The first version does not feature the advertisements for 65 Exchange. A next update added a view counter, a main banner, and links to the news section of its sister site, willserver.com/freewill/. Web crawlers identified the specific Flash files used for the screamer as freewill.swf and w.swf ("w" for "Waldo").
office-will.com was once a website that formerly distributed viruses, SOS messaging, and public news. Despite the "Free Will" site shutting down, the 65ex links redirecting to parked domains, and the "music" page becoming a dead link, the page for Where's Waldo?" still remain active and unchanged.
Although the game was originally uploaded to Newgrounds two months prior, it was often misattributed to the obscure link 'office-will.com.' Most Japanese users would simply visited the latter without a doubt.
Kikia
- Main Article: Kikia
This link redirects to Kikia from the German flash collection dopey.de instead of Netspooky's main website,[1] where it was captioned: "Turn it up LOAAUUUUT, only then will it be cool - really!" (LAAAUUUUT aufdrehn, nur dann isses geil - wirklich!) [2]
The site's directory also hosted numerous files such as whatswrong.swf, sajjadali.swf, and illusion.swf (a variant of Focus), all of which are immediate giveaways that these are already existing screamers.[2]
Psychic Photograph (心霊写真) (はなこ)
The page displays a photo beneath a line of Japanese text which reads:
いわゆる心霊写真というやつです.
やや写真が小さいのが残念ですが、
よくよく見ると、写真奥の入り口の辺に奇怪なものが写っています.
気付いたら自分はマジで悲鳴が出てしまいました.
It's called a ghost photo
Unfortunately, the photo is a little small
If you look closely, you can see something strange near the entrance at the back of the photo
Before I knew it, I was seriously screaming
Unfortunately, this specific "ghost photo" does not load in the Wayback Machine, but its given effect likely resembles the images found in When you see it. The website credits the work to Hanako.[3]
Spot the Difference (間違いさがし) (作者不明)
An embedded copy of the What's Wrong? screamer hosted on machigai3.html, where it was captioned with the Japanese text: "この写真のどこかが間違っています。じっくり探せば見つかると思います。" (Something is wrong with this photo. I think you can find it if you look hard enough.)[4]
Although the page no longer loads the screamer, a specific mention in a Korean blog post confirms it is exactly the 2001 What's Wrong With This Picture? by Jaybill.[5]
ankokukoubou.com
- NOTICE: This section is currently work in progress.
The website features an animation of a dark, shadowy field of flowers. Below, a line of light-blue text appears in a style reminiscent of a karaoke machine display. The specific text reads:
始まりはいつも明るいものとは限らない。
だが、始まりが暗かったからといって、結末も態めで暗いものとは限らない。
words by oriby
The beginning is not always bright.
But just because the beginning was dark does not necessarily mean that the ending is dark.
words by oriby
A few seconds into the animation, a disembodied head jumps on the screen (same one used in Momoju.swf), flings away, and restarts the text loop again.
Scrolling reveals that the site offers more than a simple screamer. The true purpose of Ankokukoubou lies under the premise of being a "page where you can enjoy horror" and "with peace of mind." The website distributes original materials, including action-style dark fantasy games made in JavaScript and downloadable content ranging from mobile wallpapers for platforms like i-mode to aesthetic dark horror fonts and "over 9000 horror materials and fantasy beauty materials."[6]
Users can participate in anonymous collaborations where developers unite to create 3D games using CGI and publish their own relay novels.[6]
A line of text below the screamer reads: "For those who don't want to see it anymore because they're scared, click here" (恐いからもうみたくない人はここ). This link leads to ankokukoubou.com/sozai/index.htm, a genuine safe space free from horror elements usually found from the main website.[7]
