Amy Peterson is a fictional character from the 1985 American horror-comedy film Fright Night, written and directed by Tom Holland. She is the girlfriend of Charley Brewster and one of the main human characters in the film. Amy is portrayed by Amanda Bearse.
At the beginning of the movie, Amy is unaware that Charley's new neighbor, Jerry Dandrige, is a vampire. When Charley discovers Jerry's true nature, Amy initially believes that Charley is mistaken and becomes concerned about his obsession with Jerry.
Jerry eventually targets Amy and turns her into a vampire. Her transformation becomes an important part of the film's climax, as Charley must confront the vampire version of his girlfriend. Sony Pictures describes Amy as Charley's sweetheart and one of the people threatened by Jerry.
Amy's vampiric appearance from Fright Night was later reused as the main image in several Internet screamers. This is the reason she is catalogued as a character on Screamer Wiki even though her original appearance comes from a theatrical horror movie.
Appearance
Before becoming a vampire, Amy appears as a teenage girl with long brown hair. After being transformed, she has the pale, monstrous appearance of a vampire, including prominent vampire fangs.
Her vampire appearance is the version most commonly associated with the screamers that feature her.
Personality
Amy is initially portrayed as a caring but somewhat skeptical girlfriend. She is concerned about Charley's increasingly strange behavior and does not immediately believe his claims about Jerry. Later, after becoming a vampire, her behavior changes as she is placed under Jerry's influence.
Role in Fright Night
Amy is present during several important events in the film. After Charley discovers Jerry's secret, he attempts to convince Amy that his neighbor is a vampire. She initially dismisses his suspicions.
Jerry eventually abducts Amy and turns her into a vampire. Charley later encounters her transformed self and attempts to save her while fighting Jerry.
After Jerry is defeated, Amy is restored to her normal human state.
