Fright Gauge was a screamer animation hosted at haunted.org in 2005.
The animation starts with the following message:
"The Fiend Gauge (patent pending) is designed to measure your visual perception. Studies have shown that sight plays a major role in our ability to sense the weird, strange, and supernatural. People with higher-than-average perception skills, studies show, are more likely to notice paranormal phenomena. To test your visual acuity, see if you can spot the entity hiding in one of these windows..."
The text fades, and a sudden screamer occurs about 4 seconds into the test, featuring a terrifying creature accompanied by a loud scream. Afterward, text appears reading, "Did you see it?", alongside a button that allows the user to replay the prank.
